What are you working on?

Currently I am working on some poetry, which I love writing, but don’t often have the time I really would like to devote to it. I love the changing seasons, so these often act as great inspiration for me. One day I may publish them, but for now I am just enjoying looking at the world we live in and creating poems from what I see and feel. I am also in the process of finishing off editing Book 2 of the Sophie Radcliffe scifi series.

How does my work differ from others in this genre?

I would like to say my work is unique, fresh and individual! But of course I think every writer is influenced subconsciously if not consciously in their writing There is probably quite a lot of Star Wars influence in my scifi series, with a nod to Harry Potter and Star Trek here and there. I always aim for it to be very different from anything else in its genre.

Why do you write what you do?

I write mostly for the pleasure of just producing an original piece straight from my imagination. I am not a full-time writer and have a highly consuming academic job which gives me little time for writing, but one day, I hope to be able to spend more time churning out all the books I see some of my Indie pals producing.

How does my writing process work?

I am a fairly spontaneous person and this is very much reflected in my writing. I often don’t set out to write a particular poem or story, but sometimes sit at my computer and before I know where I am, words are spouting out like a geyser. However, my scifi books require a huge amount of research and this can take me about 10 times longer than the actual story! I do think out my plots and characters very carefully before I start, though. I love writing and find it very therapeutic and it keeps me away from the telly, too!
